Personal Note
- Specific to surgical nursing – patient advocacy is key in our role. My passion and drive comes from being a patient advocate and supporting the patient during one of their most vulnerable times. A patient's surgical experience can be overwhelming, scary and intimidating- it's an unknown that you don't have control over. As a surgical nurse, I take pride in being able to reassure the patient, comfort them, and be their safety advocate. The patient is entrusting me to take great care of them and do no harm. That alone is the driving passion for providing great care to each and every patient I encounter.
